Association Freunde Liberias e.V. paves the way for international medical team

We are actively supporting the fight against Ebola organized by an international team of doctors and Freunde Liberias e.V. As of October 18, 2014 there are specialists working on the ground in the Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Liberia. They are all experienced in treating disease and do not want to watch any longer, as people are dying in West Africa.

„How can we help?”

A team of about 20 international doctors turned to Honorary Consul Michael Koelsch and offered to help. Without hesitation Michael Koelsch took the offer and sought allies for the implementation of the aid project. His first contact: The Association Freunde Liberias e.V.

Destination: Ganta

In the past, we have supported the Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Liberia with donations. We were able to quickly activate a functioning network and direct the medical care in the right direction. Mr. Siegfried Ziegler, also involved for many years for the Ganta Hospital, mediated between hospital management, club, team and Honorary Consul. Meanwhile, the Liberian Bishop Innis has pronounced the official invitation to the team of doctors and thus given the go-ahead for the project.

Hand in hand against Ebola

Dedicated professional colleagues of the team now take care of detailed questions, such as medical training, equipping of doctors etc.... Mr. Koelsch allows in close coordination with the Liberian Embassy in Berlin, quickly the necessary visas. The association takes care of the financing of the project and will launch a fundraising campaign shortly. Because the team does not share any of the known NGOs - it acts independently. Some of the costs are supported by the host, the Ganta Hospital, the other part the doctors themselves.

Your donation will help

Much of the cost must be generated through donations; there are now four doctors of the advance team with more to come - until the epidemic is defeated. And that will cost a lot of money.
